Party Rock Tour: I’m In Chicago Bitch
Chicago loves LMFAO and the feeling is mutual.
As Foo said in the intro of “I’m In Chicago Bitch”, Chicago’s own B96 was one of the first radio stations to play LMFAO’s music.
After soundcheck and an in-store signing at FYE, the boys sat down with Dez of Loyola’s journalism program to talk about what inspired them to start a group (the party energy at the Winter Music Conference in Miami in 2007), what’s on their iPods (a random mix of ‘80s, rock, electro, Cyndi Lauper and Michael Jackson) and their style influences (Eddie Murphy, Michael and “a hot girl wearing a pink zebra print shirt”).
The venue, the Congress Theatre, was packed by the time LMFAO hit the stage. For the first time during the Party Rock Tour, nearly every single person on tour with us (both performers and crew) was onstage to watch the guys in action. A member of Far East Movement was hanging over a balcony wearing a huge monkey head.
Chicago’s Jenny Boom Boom, who was one of the top contestants in our LMFAO Polka Dot Bikini Girl contest on PartyRockPeople.com, joined LMFAO, Q, Izzy and contest winner Nikole onstage to dance to “Miami”, “What Happens At The Party”, “Bounce”, “Shots”, “I Am Not A Whore” and “Yes.” She is a professional go-go dancer, so her performance style, as well as her fuzzy pink go-go boots, added a fun, different element to the show.
My friend and PartyRockPeople member, Dana, was the “I Don’t Wanna Be” girl for the night and did an impressive job playing Foo’s player ex-girlfriend.
After the show, I braved the crowd to get to the merch booth to grab a new Party Rock shirt to replace Foo’s soaking wet one worn during the performance. I have the battle wounds to prove that the crowd was absolutely insane. We sold more merch last night than any other night on the tour. Our merch guy Daniel did an absolutely stand-up job holding it down for LMFAO/Party Rock last night and Chicago really showed the love.
Daniel and I hung around our hotel, the Hard Rock, while the rest of the Party Rock Crew went out for what sounded like a wild, epic night. Today, we had a bonding session in the hotel lobby with the Shwayze guys and watched Cisco roam down the streets of Chicago, strumming an acoustic guitar and singing his version of Drake’s “Forever.”
We’re back on our tour bus, heading to Des Moines, Iowa. For the first time in a week, we have a much-needed day off. It was a good time in Chi-town; now we’re lounging in the back of the bus working, watching YouTubes and sharing hilarious stories from last night.
Des Moines is our last stop before Thanksgiving, so I’m positive things are going to get wild. Check back on Wednesday!
