Party Rock Tour: I’m In San Antonio Bitch

It looked like we were in “No Country For Old Men” when we got to our venue in San Antonio, Texas yesterday--desolate, deserted, with no sign of civilization in sight. OK, there was a burger spot around the corner, but that was the only sign of life for miles.

Being in a rural part of Texas worked in our favor, though, as we spent the whole day on the bus together, working and bonding.

The venue, the White Rabbit, was one of the most interesting places I’ve ever seen. It was like a small punk rock spot, covered in graffiti art (mostly large, eerie renderings of rabbits, like the one in “Donnie Darko”). The bathrooms were like places out of your nightmares, but they were excusable as the spot was actually really fun.

Bikini Girl Nikole, Party Rock stylist Daniel and I went on a several-mile journey in the Party Rock van for Mexican food for all of the boys. We loaded up on over a hundred dollars worth of enchiladas, tacos and chips and salsa. That turned out to be our only experience in San Antonio.

Later, we watched the Saints v. Cowboys game--an emotional roller coaster for those of us that now have a special place in our hearts for the Saints since our tour stop in New Orleans. When the Saints scored a touchdown halfway through the fourth quarter, Sky screamed so loud that he actually started hyperventilating and passed out on the ground.

Shortly before showtime, Daniel brought a special delivery to our bus--the Scream My Name hoodies that Foo had made for the Party Rock Crew for Christmas. He worked on the concept and design for the better part of the tour, so it was great to see it finally come together. It’s something special that those of us on the Party Rock Tour will always have.

There was a long line wrapped around the block for the show. Once inside, the crowd went crazy, as they always do. When Sky kissed Chelsea after “La La La”, everyone erupted into applause except for one guy that actually looked upset.

After each song, the audience chanted, “Shots! Shots! Shots!” in hopes that the song was up next. When the boys left the stage before “Shots”, as they always do to give the crowd the impression that the show is over, it caused an uproar. The crowd launched into one of the rowdiest “Shots” chants I’ve heard this whole tour. They were satisfied as the boys gave them not only “Shots”, but the “Shots” remix, as well.

Within ten minutes of getting off stage, we were whisked off in a van headed to Austin, Texas, Coronas in hand. The ride was eventful, with Q belting out Black Eyed Peas songs, Foo playing online poker and our lovable yet cynical security guard, Paxon, complaining.

We made it to our afterparty at Gruv just 20 minutes before the club closed, but they stayed open late for us. Apparently, people were waiting outside in the cold for hours, anticipating our arrival. At one point, I looked over to see Foo standing on the sofa at the VIP table with his pants down around his ankles and, as usual, the bottle of Goose was gone within 15 minutes.

We just got to McAllen, Texas. It’s a little town on the Mexican border and the Party Rock Tour is the hottest thing in town. People are lining up already, three hours before doors open. It’s bittersweet, as today is the last day of the Party Rock Tour.

Stay tuned for what will probably be the longest and best update ever, coming tomorrow from LA.
